Astor Tower began its life in 1963, when the doors were opened to the Astor Tower Hotel, which quickly became the "it" hotel of the ensuing decades. The Astor Tower Hotel hosted celebrities from Bette Davis to John Belushi, and — most famously — The Beatles, while on tour in 1966 after the release of their new album, Revolver.
Astor Tower was designed by famed Modernist architect, Bertrand Goldberg, who also designed many of Chicago's most celebrated buildings, including the iconic Marina City on the Chicago River, affectionately known as the "corn cob towers." Goldberg's distinctive architectural style has stood the test of time, and the design of Astor Tower is still stunning and modern, even 60 years later.
The Astor Tower Hotel was also home to Maxim's de Paris Chicago, an exact replica of the legendary Parisian restaurant and nightclub, serving French haute-cuisine and entertaining Chicago's finest diners, politicians and celebrities from the world over for over 20 years after its opening in 1963.
ELEGANCE TODAY Today, Astor Tower is a small and vibrant condominium community, a true gem in the heart of the historic Gold Coast. Astor Tower is perfect location for downtown living, just blocks from Lake Michigan, Lincoln Park, Old Town and the Magnificent Mile. Maxim's de Paris was recently acquired and is now home to the private, members-only social club, The Astor Club.
